PASIGHAT, May 10: The Adi-Mising Baane Kebang (AMBK) has requested the authorities concerned to impose “hard and fast” rules to tame unruly drivers and ease traffic congestion in Pasighat.
Expressing concern over the increasing rate of road accidents and traffic congestion, the AMBK urged the authority to regulate traffic movement on the highway from Itanagar to Pasighat, and from Pasighat to Dibrugarh (Assam) in order to avoid accidents.
The AMBK is an interstate community organization, and renders help to people during emergency situations like road accidents.
On Thursday, it submitted a representation to the East Siang DC and requested her to convene a meeting with commercial vehicle operators and owners, transport federations, community leaders and labour unions to implement traffic rules and safety measures in letter and spirit.
Responding to the plea, the administration has convened a public meeting here on 16 May to discuss the issues.
