ITANAGAR, May 14: The Tagin Welfare Society (TWS) has written to the chief secretary, seeking action against those involved in an “attempt to murder” of Tali ADC and returning officer (RO) Biaro Sorum during the recently held fresh polls there.
The TWS claimed that a contesting MLA candidate and his party workers attempted to murder the RO of the Tali assembly constituency in Kra Daadi district on 26 and 28 April, adding that the RO continues to be threatened.
Citing mental trauma and safety concerns of the RO, the TWS condemned the alleged threats and attempted murder.
Besides seeking necessary action, it asked the chief secretary to initiate precautionary measures for the RO’s safety.
