PASIGHAT, May 17: East Siang Deputy Commissioner Kinny Singh has urged all transport operators in the district to abide by traffic rules and guidelines.
During a meeting with officials of the district transport authority, transport operators and members of transport federations, police and CBOs here on Friday, Singh directed the transport authority to ensure strict enforcement of traffic rules to curb road accidents in the district.
She urged all stakeholders to cooperate in the matter of shifting the ticket counters of Tata Sumo/Winger taxis to the 2 Mile area.
The DC also asked the municipal council, the district transport office and the DLRSO to “come up with tangible results in regards to the proposed parking lots.”
SP Prashant Gautam said most of the traffic problems would “die down automatically if the commercial vehicle documents and counter licences are checked regularly.”
