Dear Editor,
The recent fire mishap which occurred at a coaching institute in Surat, Gujarat, was an unfortunate tragedy in which many students and teachers lost their precious lives. According to The Hindu report, the death toll has reached 23.
The incident could have been averted if the fire brigade had reached on time and the coaching institute had maintained fire safety standards.
In Arunachal, plenty of new buildings, hotels, hospitals and coaching institutes are coming up. The question is: do they meet the standards on fire safety? Is the authority concerned prepared to avert a Surat-like tragedy?
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the attention of the state government and administration to implement strict rules and regulations to thwart a Surat-like tragedy from occurring.
Sincerely,
T Kaming Paji
