LEKHI, May 28: A moot court for the students of the Himalayan University’s law department was conducted here on Tuesday.
In his inaugural address, the university’s administration head D Bagra said “mooting is very important for budding lawyers as it helps the students understand all the procedures that are followed in a court, so as to prepare them for the future.”
Six teams, comprising six members each, participated in the moot court, which had advocates from the Itanagar bench of the Gauhati High Court, Teto Taba, Morrik Bagra and Doba Tamut, as jury members.
Lokam Mangha, Reken Ingo, Lojen Singhkom, Kuma Welly, Mijan Bui and Moken Doke were declared the winners of the moot court, while Tumge Ado and Reken Ingo won the ‘best pleader’ and the ‘best researcher’ award, respectively.
