ITANAGAR, May 28: Former Asom Sahitya Sabha (ASS) president Rongbong Terang will be receiving the prestigious Lummer Dai Literary Award-2019 of the ASS in a ceremony at Lummer Dai Bhavan in Tezpur, Assam, on 1 June.
The award will be presented in commem-oration of the 79th birth anniversary of ‘Sahitya Surya’ Lummer Dai.
Terang, a noted literary figure from Assam and the Northeast, is a Padmashree awardee for his literary work Rongmilir Hanhi.
This year’s ceremony is being organized by the Sonitpur District Sahitya Sabha, with support from the Tezpur SS branch, and a slew of activities, including paying tributes to Lummer Dai, are set to mark the illustrious author’s 79th birth anniversary celebration.
On the same day, in far-off Siluk village in East Siang district, the birthplace of Lummer Dai, the Silukian Welfare Kebang is going to organize a function to mark the 79th birth anniversary celebration of the state’s literary icon.
