CM lifts ban on govt cheques, drafts

ITANAGAR, May 30: Chief Minister Pema Khandu has directed the finance department to lift the ban on government cheques and drafts.
Khandu ordered the lifting of the ban, taking note of the problems faced by the state’s contractors, especially small-time contractors who depend mostly on government funds.
The finance department is expected to soon issue an order lifting the ban.
However, the CM cautioned the agencies that payment should be made on being satisfied that the works have been executed as per the norms.
“Financial propriety must be maintained, and strict action shall be taken against any defaulting officers,” he said. (CMO)
