ITANAGAR, Jun 28: Governor BD Mishra on Friday felicitated officers and personnel of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) at the Raj Bhavan here for saving the lives of car accident victims, including a woman with an infant, near the Gohpur market in Itanagar on 10 May.
On that day, personnel of the 54th Bn ITBP’s A Company, led by its Deputy Commandant Himanshu Tiwari, came to the accident victims’ rescue, acting on their own initiative and volition.
“People look to the members of the uniformed forces for help during crises and emergencies. The common belief and expectation of the civilian population is that the uniformed forces will always rise to their expectation on account of their training and tradition,” the governor said.
Expressing appreciation for the ITBP personnel and officers, he said “their action reflects their goodwill for the general public.” (Raj Bhavan)
