Kaying admin bans sale of liquor, tobacco to minors

KAYING, Jun 28: The local administration here in Siang district has banned the sale of liquor and tobacco to minors and strictly prohibited unauthorized sale of IMFL and consumption of liquor on the roadsides from Row to Kerang.
The decisions were taken during a coordination meeting held here on 27 June between the local administration and members of various organizations, including the ABK’s women wing, the Chebung Bango Welfare Society Payum and the Kebo Gambo Welfare Society, besides religious leaders, youths and the market committee.
EAC (in-charge) Pumek Ronya, who chaired the meeting, said the prohibitions have been imposed on the basis of the public’s demand to check the menace of alcoholism and tobacco consumption among youths and minors.
The police have been given specific direction to conduct night patrolling to prevent such antisocial activities.
The administration has also banned gambling, including unauthorized lotteries and housie, and urged the church leaders and gamging priests to create awareness on drug abuse, alcoholism and cleanliness. (DIPRO)
