Trees planted to mark Vanmahotsava

CHANGLANG, Jul 1: Changlang DC RK Sharma led government officers and students in planting over 200 saplings of various species of trees here on Monday as part of the environment & forest department’s weeklong celebration of Vanmahotsava.
Speaking about the issues of global warming and climate change, the DC sensitized the gathering to their responsibilities towards the planet, and urged them to “plant trees to create a greener tomorrow.”
DFO D Lendo spoke on the origin and importance of Vanmahotsava, and said the festival “instills an awareness of tree plantation among the people and represents the need of planting and nursing trees.”
RFO Kamrop Kanglom informed that the forest department will celebrate the festival throughout the week by planting trees in various parts of the district. (DIPRO)
