PASIGHAT, Jul 16: The heads of various government departments presented reports on the progress of the works under central and state flagship programmes and highlighted proposals for the 2019-20 annual plan during the district planning board meeting chaired by East Siang DC Kinny Singh here on Tuesday.
The meeting, which was also attended by MLAs Lombo Tayeng, Ninong Ering and Kaling Moyong, was aimed at chalking out a holistic action plan for the district in all sectors.
“The policy decision for decentralized planning through the district planning board will help in proper selection of schemes and projects based on the requirements at the grassroots level, and also go a long way in optimum and proper utilization of fund, so that the people are the ultimate beneficiaries,” Tayeng said.
Ering suggested “framing up the proposals as per allocation approved by the government in the recent budget session.”
Referring to the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Road Plan, Ering said, “We must boost connectivity for socioeconomic development. We must all work together as a team with the common objective of the district’s development.”
Moyong offered suggestions to strengthen the implementation of various projects, and called for preparing “a comprehensive plan for master city drainage for Pasighat market and other vulnerable areas of the township facing the perennial problem of water-logging every monsoon, and which is necessary for better sanitation.”
He also urged the water resource department to “explore the potentials in inland waterways of the Siang river, which would boost economic and tourism activities.”
“The state budget has a holistic approach towards all sectors,” the MLA added.
The DC reviewed the status of the schemes and the new proposals for the district, and stressed on “innovative and comprehensive proposals for taking up in East Siang, so that the district leads as frontrunner in developmental activities.”
She issued strictures to the executing agencies to expedite the work to complete the bridge over the Poglek river, and for early completion of the CT scan room in the general hospital here.
Singh instructed DPO SK Sharma to liaise with the departments to ensure early submission of proposals from the district to the state “with proper justification against each proposal.”
The meeting later approved the schemes and projects submitted by the various works departments to be taken up during 2019-20. (DIPRO)
