BALEK, Jul 16: The fifty-hour Swachh Bharat summer internship programme here in East Siang district was concluded with a function chaired by the Balek GB at the community hall on Tuesday.
During the programme, four NSS volunteers from JNC Pasighat – Api Talom, Nungki Dai, Seema Kumari and Kuja Mida – who had enrolled themselves as internees under the programme, conducted a series of activities, including field visits, door-to-door visits, survey and segregation of solid wastes, and cleanliness drives, besides digging compost pits, and delivering talks on cleanliness at the government secondary school here.
The internees identified polythene bags as one of the major pollutants in the village. At their request the Pasighat PHE&WS division donated dustbins to the villagers.
