CHANGLANG, Jul 18: Personnel of the Changlang police and the 13 Assam Rifles in a joint operation here on Wednesday arrested three Myanmarese operatives of the NSCN (KY).
Those arrested have been identified as Kusum Bongtoy, Chit Aung, and a minor.
Changlang SP Surender Choudhary informed that the operation had been launched based on specific input regarding the presence of the three ultras.
“During the operation, the team noticed the three suspected individuals, and nabbed them near a stream in Nampong area of the district,” the SP said.
On inquiry, the trio confessed to being Myanmarese operatives of the NSCN (KY) who had been tasked to collect information about the movement of security forces.
Also, around 4.4 kgs of opium was seized from them. A case under Section 21/18 of NDPS Act, Section 14 A of the Foreigners Act, and Section 10/13 of the UA (P) Act has been lodged at the Nampong police station, the SP informed.
Meanwhile, apart from normal patrolling, the police have started traffic awareness programmes and motor vehicles checking in various parts of the district.
