Awareness meet on central sector scheme held

AALO, Jul 24: The West Siang district’s Agriculture department organized an awareness meeting on Mission Organic Value Chain Development (MOVCD) and other departmental schemes at Liromoba recently.
The MOVCD, a central sector scheme, aims to develop certified organic production in a value chain mode to link growers with consumers and to support the development of entire value chain, starting from inputs, seeds, certification, to the creation of facilities for collection, aggregation, processing, marketing and brand building initiative.
Highlighting the aims and objective of the scheme, Agriculture Deputy Director Margi Ete advised the farmers to avail the benefits under various farmer-centric flagship programmes.
Explaining the harmful effects of chemical and synthetic fertilizers on soil health, Ete advised the farmers to adopt sustainable farming practices.
A team of officials from the headquarters, Nyage Loya, Jarny Yomcha and Jumdo Jini dwelt at length on various ongoing schemes.
The programme was organized in collaboration with the Liromoba Farmers’ Club and attended by farmers, gaon burrahs and departmental officials. (DIPRO)
