Carriage contractors seek release of pending bills

ITANAGAR, Jul 26: The All Arunachal Pradesh PDS NFSA Carriage Contractor Welfare Association in a representation to the chief minister on Friday requested him to direct the department concerned to release the payment of pending NFSA bills from 2017-18 till August 2019.
The carriage contractors said they have been “facing serious financial constraints to bear the transportation expenditure” owing to the delay in payment of the NFSA bills by the department for 2017-18, 2018-19, and 2019-20.
“The GoI had already released the financial share to the state government, but no payment is released from the department till today, and neither the state government released its share as per the NFSA-2013. As per the NFSA-13 the advance payment shall be paid to the PDS wholesale nominee-cum-carriage contractor quarterly from the state government and said bill paid shall be reimbursed from the central government, but it has never been implemented.
“Because of such lackadaisical attitude on the part of state government, the carriage contractors are facing acute financial shortage to transport essential commodities,” the association said.
It said the carriage contractors would be compelled to either resort to legal action or stop transportation of NFSA essential commodities from August if their demand is not met.
