SERU, Aug 1: An awareness programme on ‘student police cadet’ (SPC) was organized by Tawang police station OC (SB) Inspector Kesang Norbu for the students of the government secondary school here in Tawang district on Thursday.
An initiative for ‘school-based youth development,’ the programme aims at fostering partnership between students and the police for generating awareness among community members on laws and acts like the POCSO and the COTPA, and social crimes, besides empowering the youths against vices such as drug and alcohol abuse, intolerance, separatism and terrorism.
Taekwondo master Sangey Tsering imparted training to the school’s Classes 8, 9 and 10 girl students in basic self-defense as part of the programme. (Tawang Vigilance)
