PALIN, Aug 14: The inter-departmental independence cup badminton tournament-2019, conducted by the Palin Indoor Hall Management Committee (PIHMC) in collaboration with the district administration of Kra Daadi concluded here on Wednesday.
In the women’s singles, Biri Onia of the Education department defeated Sorang Yanang of the Education department, while Kyoda Tadam of the PWD defeated Benny Saikia of the Education department in the men’s singles event.
In the men’s doubles category, the team of Tassar Dava and Tichi Tabang of the Rural Development department emerged as champions after defeating Tichi Sima and Tana Jacob of the PWD.
Later, addressing participants and guest, PIHMC chairman Biri Tako highlighted about the shortage of basic amenities in the indoor hall and sports infrastructure at Palin. He sought the intervention of Palin MLA Balo Raja for development of sports facility in the district.
The MLA, on his part, assured of cooperating with the PIHMC and district administration in promoting sports activities in the area.
Deputy Commissioner S Miji also encouraged the players to maintain the same discipline and spirit of sportsman in future events. (DIPRO)
