ITANAGAR, Aug 30: The Rajiv Gandhi Government Polytechnic’s (RGGP) fortnight-long induction programme for the newly admitted students (first semester and lateral entry) concluded here on Friday.
The programme, which has been made compulsory by the AICTE, had started on 19 August.
Among others, RGGP Principal Dr AK Tripathy attended the valedictory function.
The highlight of the function was a performance by life science skills illustrator HG Ley, who entertained the gathering with educational and informative magic tricks.
Various activities were carried out during the fortnight with the aim of making the new students feel comfortable in their new environment, setting a healthy daily routine, creating bonding between faculty members and students, and developing awareness, sensitivity and understanding.
Numerous guests and experts were invited to motivate and guide the students.
Arunodaya University VC VN Sharma, who also attended the induction programme, urged the students to “work hard and maintain the same momentum throughout the year.”
Resource persons like Jene Hai, Kenni Ratan and Karken Riba spoke about their passion and knowledge of painting, music and dance, while Dr Carolina Mum Norbu dwelt on vaccination, sex education, mental and social health, dental hygiene, and basic sanitization.
Swami Pradiptananda from the Art of Living centre and NIT Students’ Affairs Dean RP Sharma also addressed the induction programme.
The students were taken on a tour of the college campus to familiarize them with the various buildings, laboratories, classrooms, etc. They were also taken on an exposure visit to the Science Centre in IG Park, and the state museum.
On the last day, feedback was collected from the students, and certificates were distributed to them.
The induction programme was coordinated by the RGGP’s Science & Humanities HoD incharge Jitu Saikia.
