ITANAGAR, Sep 4: Governor BD Mishra has directed concerned officials and NGOs to put in concerted efforts to make the state Capital and also other parts of the state cleaner, greener and plastic-free.
The governor gave this direction during his visit to some parts of Itanagar to see the level of cleanliness on Wednesday.
‘There should be joint efforts to realise the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to have a clean India and we have to make a beginning from our own doorstep,’ the governor said. He appealed to the people to join hands to ensure that their homes, roads and areas are clean.
In the run-up to the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the governor reiterated the necessity of a holistic plan for the disposal of the solid wastes, keeping in mind the need for waste dumping for the next ten years. He emphasised on proper segregation of biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste at the originating point for its proper disposal. (PRO to Raj Bhavan)
