Mass plantation drive held to mark Teachers’ Day

RONO HILLS, Sep 4: The Rajiv Gandhi University’s Department of Social Work conducted a plantation drive in the university campus to mark the pre-Teachers’ day celebration here Wednesday.
RGU Vice-Chancellor Prof Saket Kushwaha applauded the department on taking such an initiative of planting fruit-bearing saplings, and encouraged students to plant more saplings on the occasion of their birthdays.
He also advised the department to take care of each sapling, particularly as a symbol of generosity and love for nature towards the university.
Deputy Registrar Nangram Tuglik also expressed his gratitude and happiness on the august programme initiated by the Department of Social Work.
Head of the Department, Dr Kaushalendra Pratap Singh informed that the programme was being held to commemorate the Swachhta Hi Seva campaign, which begins from 11 September, but the Department of Social Work initiated it in advance to mark the auspicious day of Teacher’s Day as well.
He further called on everyone to follow the principles of- reduce, reuse and recycle to keep the environment and surroundings neat and clean and to preserve the beauty of nature.
