KHONSA, Sep 14: The Tirap district administration and the district tobacco control cell with the help of the police on Saturday seized huge quantities of tobacco products and alcoholic beverages during a raid conducted in various shops operating within 100 metres of educational institutions here.
The seized items include gutkha, khaini, bidis, cigarettes, and bottles of IMFL.
The administration, however, let off the offenders with a warning.
Town Magistrate Lim Modi informed the shopkeepers that sale of tobacco products from shops operating within a radius of 100 metres from educational institutions is a punishable offence under the COTPA.
Deputy Commissioner PN Thungon also cautioned the shopkeepers against selling tobacco products and liquor to persons below 18 years of age. (DIPRO)
