ITANAGAR, Sep 15: Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) lifted the 3rd Teachers’ Trophy, beating Himalayan University 4-1 in the final match played at the DNGC playground here on Sunday.
Professional Career Academy (PCA) was adjudged the ‘disciplined team’.
The winners were awarded cash prize of Rs 50,000, while the runner-up team was given Rs 30,000.
The ‘disciplined team’, PCA, was awarded Rs 10,000.
The closing ceremony was attended by Likabali MLA Kardo Nyigyor, former AAPSU leader Takam Tatung and DNGC Principal Dr NT Rikam.
Nyigyor emphasized on physical fitness, and lauded the Ajing United Club (AUC) for conducting the tournament.
He encouraged the youths to take up sports as a profession, and highlighted the government’s job reservation policy for meritorious sportspersons.
AUC chairman of Pinku Basar spoke about the importance of playing sports to stay physically fit and mentally sound. He also highlighted the journey of the AUC from being a small football club to a social, non-profit organization.
Later, Nyigyor and Tatung gave away the trophy and awards to the winners, the runners-up, the best player, the highest scorer and the best goalkeeper.
