Ruthless Railways hammer Andhra 18-0

PASIGHAT, Sep 16: A ruthless Railways toyed with Andhra Pradesh and scored at will to ground their opponent 18-0 in the 25th Senior Women’s National Football Championship (SWNFC) on Monday.
The win not only depicted the ruthlessness of the team but also ensured them a quarterfinals berth after Assam lost 0-2 to Mizoram in another Group A match played at the IGJ school playground here in the morning.
Prior to Monday’s matches, Assam and Railways had 4 points each from a win and a drawn match.
Assam had beaten Andhra Pradesh 9-0 in their first match and drew with Railways (0-0) in the second match. Railways had beaten Mizoram 4-0 in the inaugural match.
In Group B, Haryana trounced Bihar 7-1 and Karnataka beat Madhya Pradesh 2-1.
Five matches will be played on Tuesday, and they are Tamil Nadu vs Goa, Uttar Pradesh vs Chattishgarh, Delhi vs Maharashtra, Odisha vs Karnataka, and Chandigarh vs Pondicherry.
The knockout rounds will commence on 18 September.
