CHANGLANG, Sep 19: Several farmers participated in a district level sensitization workshop on the ‘Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme (DEDS) and the National Livestock Mission (NLM) component’ organized by the NABARD here on Thursday.
NABARD District Development Manager Kamal Roy made a PowerPoint presentation on the salient features of the DEDS and the NLM, and urged the participants to avail the benefits of the dairy, poultry, piggery and goatery schemes.
Veterinary Officer Dr Micha Taiju spoke about scientific rearing of different livestock, and vaccination and hygiene practices. She apprised the farmers of the different varieties of animals and poultry that are suitable for adoption in the area.
NERCORMP Project Director N Sukajit shared the list of the activities being undertaken by SHGs and NaRMGs, while NERCORMP’s Natural Resource Management Officer N Betters spoke about the activities being taken up by the NERCORMP to promote livestock.
He stressed on the need to promote community conserved areas in the project villages to conserve the forest resources and ensure sustainable management.
Changlang SBI Branch Manager Tarun Rai informed about the formalities for availing credit under the credit-linked schemes.
