Orientation prog for DUDAs & ULBs held

ITANAGAR, Sept 25: A three days ‘Integrated orientation programme for District Urban Development Agencies (DUDAs) and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) officers and officials’ conducted by the Arunachal State Urban Livelihood Mission (ArSULM) in collaboration with Centre for Urban Studies, Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), New Delhi concluded here at the Dorjee Khandu State Convention Centre on Wednesday. The programme was sponsored by the Union ministry of housing and urban affairs.
IIPA Associate Professor and programme coordinator Dr. Kusum Lata, while highlighting the main aim of the programme said providing basic services (water supply, sewerage urban transport) to households and creating amenities essential for good quality of life for all, especially the poor and the disadvantaged group, has been a national priority in recent times. The capacity building under the programme intends to empower municipal functionaries to lead the timely completion of the projects,’ Lata said.
Dr. Lata also educated the participants on urbanization – global process and Indian follow-up, PMAY-housing for all, smart city, e-Governance & m-governance for municipal services & pictorial progress on NULM in Arunachal Pradesh.
ArSULM State Mission Director Nixon Lego said the programme was designed to provide exposure on Government of India’s urban sector mission with a particular reference to AMRUT, Smart City, SBM, PMAY – Housing for All and DAY-NULM. Lego informed that the department of UD & Housing has taken up several initiatives like organizing workshop, seminars, integrated training etc. for enhancing the capacities of field functionaries ‘so that all mission mode and flagship programmes are implemented properly’. The Mission Director further informed the gathering that state UD and Housing Minister Kamlung Mossang has assured for taking necessary initiative in days to come for equipping field functionaries with latest information and technical know-how.
Another IIPA Associate Professor Dr. Saket Bihari, Associate Professor from ATI, Kolkata, Dr. Kaushik Ghosh and Deputy Commissioner of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation in Odisha, Srimanta Mishra spoke on the NULM implementation and other issues.
