YUPIA, Sep 27: The Papum Pare district ICDS cell on Thursday organised an essay writing competition here on the theme ‘Beating anaemia’ as part of the celebration of the Rashtriya Poshan Maah.
The event was aimed at creating awareness among adolescent girls about anaemia and its prevention.
Student from the government secondary school (GSS) in the Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) campus, Onam Techi, won the first prize in the competition, while Anjali Nagarale (VKV, Balijan) and Puskar Sarkar (GSS, RGU) won the second and the third prize, respectively.
In Itanagar, ICDS CDPO Jaya Taba organized street plays on the theme ‘Right nutrition, healthy nation’ at the Ganga market and the government middle school in D Sector on Thursday.
The plays focused on the importance of the first 1000 days of a baby’s life, anaemia prevention, diarrhoea management, hygiene, sanitation, etc.
Awareness programmes on the PM Matru Vandana Yojana, a conditional maternity benefit scheme for first-time mothers, was also organized along with the street plays, the CDPO informed. (DIPROs)
