AALO, Oct 3: Writers Daniel Sequeira from Mumbai, Nishant Sinha from Guwahati, Tojum Riba from Itanagar, Dr Tsering Wangmo from Imphal and Tania Louis from Mumbai bagged the first, second, third, fourth and fifth prizes, respectively for the online travel writing contest themed ‘Experiences from any unexplored destination in West Siang and Shi-Yomi district’, organized by the West Siang unit of the Tourism Department.
West Siang Deputy Commissioner Swetika Sachan gave away cash prizes worth Rs 35,000, Rs 25,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 5000 each, along with certificates to all winners during an award ceremony, commemorating Gandhi Jayanti and Paryatan Parv at a private hotel here in West Siang district on Wednesday last.
Eighteen writers from various parts of the country, who were associated with the districts in the past, participated in the contest. The prize-winning writers not only wrote on the environment, food styles and places, but shared their rich experiences with the gathering.
The DC, DFO Abhinav Kumar and District Tourism Officer TK Kopak also spoke on the occasion. (DIPRO)
