APB&OCWWB conducts awareness campaign

BOMDILA, Oct 9: In an effort to educate the labour class of the benefits- both statutory and non-statutory and other welfare measures-the Arunachal Pradesh Building & Other Construction Worker’s Welfare Board (APB&OCWWB) conducted awareness camps at Tenzingang, Morshing, Kalaktang and Sangti under West Kameng district.
It was attended by hundreds of registered and non-registered construction workers from both the organized and unorganized sectors, besides participation by public leaders, ex-PRI members, gaon burahs, trade union activists and executive members of the All Arunachal Pradesh Workers’ Union.
Registering Officer APB&OCWWB Bomdila Niku Killo, dwelling on the benefits envisaged for the register labourers, informed that under the statutory benefits, the Board provides death and accidental benefits, medical assistance and education benefits, besides free insurance under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha BimaYojana and Pradhan Mantri Jivan Jyoti Bima Yojana.
Other benefits and facilities such as LED TV, blankets, solar lamps, gumboots, rain coats etc are provided to the registered labours, he said and added that as of now more than 40, 000 labours have already been registered under the Board in the state.
The DL&EO attended the camps as resource person and encouraged the labourers to get registered to avail the benefits given by the Board. Welfare kits and registration forms were distributed at the end of every camp.
Earlier, on 5 October, the All Arunachal Pradesh Workers’ Union, district unit, organized a programme in Dibang Valley’s Anini, where cheques amounting to Rs 1, 70, 000 were distributed as education assistance. Five cheques were distributed to the children belonging to workers’ registered under the APB&OCWWB by EAC Toni Mitkong on the occasion. (DIPROs)
