Labourers informed of statutory benefits

TAWANG, Oct 15: The Tawang unit of the Arunachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (APB&OCWWB) conducted a weeklong awareness camp for labourers at various labour camps in the district recently.
The weeklong awareness camp started from Taktsang Gonpa under Zemithang circle on 7 October, followed by camps at Y-Junction labour camp, Jang and finally at Dzela and Nuranang on 14 October.
During these awareness camps, APB&OCWWB registering officer Phurpa Tsering informed of the statutory benefits available for registered labourers. He also gave information on how to register under the APB&OCWWB and on ways to claim the benefits.
Tsering further informed the labourers about enhancement of the statutory benefits, such as maternity, death, marriage and home loans for registered labourers by the APB&OCWWB.
On the last day of the camp at Dzela and Nuranang labour camps, Losel Nyinje Charitable Society Tawang chairman Rinchen Norbu spoke on cleanliness, maintenance of hygiene and proper health care, while Border road Organisation Labour Union, Tawang unit president, Pema Wangdi lauded the efforts of the APB&OCWWB Tawang for conducting the camps.
Additionally, Tsering informed that non-statutory benefits, like water filter and other materials will be distributed to labourers during medical camps in the days to come.
