Governor inaugurates teachers’ workshop under RAA

ITANAGAR, Oct 17: Governor BD Mishra on Thursday inaugurated a two-day state-level workshop for teachers of government elementary schools, under the Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan (RAA), being organised by the education department in collaboration with the Unit of Science & Educational Development (UNISED) at the Dorjee Khandu auditorium in the state legislative assembly here.
One hundred schools have been selected under the ‘Samagra Shiksha for RAA’, under which science and mathematics learning kits, including low-cost solar-based e-learning equipment, will be provided. The workshop is being attended by teachers and students of the selected schools for RAA activities.
In his inaugural address, Mishra described science and technology as “the major driving forces in the development of any society,” and said the RAA aims to encourage young minds towards scientific understanding and innovation.
He urged the students and teachers to cultivate the spirit of progressive learning, saying it is important that every citizen “develops scientific temper, humanism, and the spirit of inquiry and reform.”
Mishra expressed hope that the RAA would “reset the mindset of the youth” by assisting them in changing their “job seeking attitude to startup attitude.”
“This will answer many problems of the people, create jobs for the youth, and minimize unemployment in the state,” he said.
The governor also suggested that the RAA be taken up on the public-private partnership mode.
Sharing the vision of the National Education Policy, 2019, Mishra said the objective of the RAA is to “instill the spirit of ethical leadership, integrity, responsibility, and altruistic and societal thinking.”
Education Minister Taba Tedir, Education Secretary Niharika Rai, Samagra Shiksha Deputy State Project Director Nangram Pingkap, RAA national programme advisor Avane-esh, and RAA Programme Director Javed Ali Khan also attended the inaugural function. (Raj Bhavan)
