KAMBA, Oct 23: Liromoba MLA Nyamar Karbak inspected the Kamba Small Hydel Project (3×2 MW) and took stock of its functioning.
While addressing the officials during the visit, Karbak stated that Liromoba has huge potential for micro hydel projects and the department should explore it at the earliest.
“When I got elected as MLA, getting the Kamba small hydel project to function was my immediate priority and today the project is ready to be officially inaugurated and dedicated to the people,” Karbak said.
Stressing the need to realize the full power generation capacity of the project, the MLA has appreciated DHPD-II, Aalo division led by its EE Hogmar Ete for completing the works on time.
The power project was sanctioned during the time of Lijum Ronya as the power minister way back in 1995 and its construction was completed only in 2010.
The hydel project is currently generating 2 MW power and since the last eight days, it has been providing electricity to Kamba and Darak circles of West Siang district, Kaying sub-division Siang district and Tato of Shi-Yomi district, informed DHPD EE Hogmar Ete.
The project will start generating another 2 MW power in a week’s time.
