DC seeks cooperation to implement COTPA

TEZU, Oct 23: Lohit Deputy Commissioner Prince Dhawan has sought cooperation from all the stakeholders for implementation of the provisions of Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) in the district.
Chairing a meeting of the district tobacco control cell at his conference hall here on Wednesday, Dhawan asked the police and the education departments to take necessary actions against shops selling tobacco products near educational institutions.
DMO Dr S Chai Pul briefed about the National Tobacco Control Programme while district consultant Liza Umbrey highlighted on COTPA, 2003.
District programme officer Dr S Towang spoke on the harmful effects on tobacco consumption.
