Shoulder responsibility for development of state and nation: Pongte

PASIGHAT, Oct 23: ‘Work hard and shoulder your responsibility to contribute to the development and progress of the state and the nation,’ said state Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker, Tesam Pongte, while addressing the students of Jawahar Lal Nehru College (JNC) here in East Siang district on the occasion of the College Day celebrations on Wednesday.
Pongte, in his address, also highlighted the state government’s initiative to promote transparency and corruption free governance.
‘The introduction of Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board has provided a level playing field for all aspirants, while recruitment of all Group A & B posts is being done through APPSC,’ he said.
He further informed that the government has also sanctioned funds for construction of additional boys’ and girls’ hostels for JNC.
Local MLA Kaling Moyong pointed out the upgradation and restoration of the college infrastructure, particularly the hostel facilities of the JNC by the state government including augmentation of water and reliable power supply and road connectivity. He said that the state government is taking all steps to provide facilities in the campus to ensure conducive academic environment.
He urged the students to explore scopes in the tourism sector and to promote and maintain cleanliness in their hostel premises in the spirit of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
Earlier, JNC PrincipalDr. Milorai Modi said, the JNC, the oldest college of the state which was established in 1964, has now a students’ strength of 3700 -both under graduate and post graduate and 74 faculty members.
Earlier, T.Mize, General Secretary, JNC also submitted a memorandum for fund provision for construction of Main Entrance Gate for Upper Campus.(DIPRO)
