RUKSIN, Oct 28: Continuing its drive against smuggling of firearms and drug trafficking along the Assam-Arunachal boundary, the police here in East Siang district arrested two drug peddlers on Sunday.
On receiving a tip-off, a police team led by PS OC Inspector Thumgon Tali nabbed the peddlers from the market here, and seized about 100 gms of brown sugar from their possession.
The duo has been identified as Bharat Dalbong, of Ngorlung village, and Gelek Lobsang, of Jonai in nearby Assam. Both are presently in police custody. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered, and investigation is on. The brown sugar seized from their possession is worth approximately Rs 1.2 lakhs.
The East Siang police, who have been maintaining sharp vigil along the interstate boundary area, had recently arrested a firearms dealer from Ruksin area.
Meanwhile, East Siang SP RR Singh has appealed to the citizens to inform about any suspected movement in the area.
