BALIJAN, Nov 2: The United Doimukh Football Club (UDFC) lifted the 2nd All Papum Poma Students’ Union (APPSU) Football Cup in a penalty shootout against Genesis FC by 5-4 goals at the general ground here on Saturday.
The winning team was awarded a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh along with certificate, trophy and medals, while the runner-up team received a cash prize of Rs 50,000, a certificate and a trophy.
Ratan Osen was adjudged the highest scorer of the tournament, while Tajo Sampa was adjudged the best goalkeeper and Ron Kanu was given the best player award.
Earlier in the day, youth leader Nabam Dodum and former All Kra Daadi District Students’ Union president Gora Rikam Bhai urged the players to maintain the spirit of the game, and to maintain communal harmony among the people living in the boundary areas of Arunachal and Assam.
Several student leaders and organisations from Assam and Arunachal, besides local leaders of Balijan, were present on the occasion.
