Farmers taken on exposure visit

NAMSAI, Nov 2: Sixty farmers benefitted from a two-day ‘exposure field visit and training’ programme organised by the Namsai KVK from 1-2 November, under the Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana.
On the first day, the KVK scientists took the farmers to Mahadevpur-III, Nampong, and Jona 1 villages, where rabi crops like peas, potatoes and toria are being grown in the farmers’ fields. The scientists advised the trainees to adopt scientific cultivation for sustainable farming.
On the second day, the farmers participated in a training programme in Mahadevpur-II, where agriculture scientist Dr Debasis Sasmal suggested to them to use organic fertilizers in place of chemical fertilizers, while Bidyapati Ngangom educated them on the different types of bio-fertilizers that can be used for organic farming.
