ITANAGAR, Nov 20: The 7th University Badminton League, 2019 organised by the Officers’ Club of Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) was inaugurated by RGU Joint Registrar Kurian Thomas at the university’s main auditorium here on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Thomas lauded the organizing club and its effort to promote badminton in the state and the university in particular.
Joint Registrar (Academic & Conference) David Pertin urged the players to play the game with true sportsman spirit.
Earlier, Officers’ Club chairman Dr Gibji Nimasow highlighted about the championship.
The finals of both the men’s doubles open and intra-club categories will be played on 22 November.
The winners, runners-up and the second runners-up will be awarded cash prizes, trophies and citations.
Meanwhile, the pairs of Dr David Pertin-Teli Momu and Dr Gibji Nimasow-Pitam Jomoh entered into the finals of the intra-club doubles competition beating the pairs of Hage Kojee-Pura Deilyang and Dr K Rojeet Singh-Terge Sora, respectively in the semi-finals.
The league matches of the open category will be completed by the 21 November.
