APCC celebrates Indira Gandhi’s birth anniversary

ITANAGAR, Nov 20: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has celebrated the 102nd birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi at Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan here on Tuesday.
APCC president Nabam Tuki led other party leaders and workers in paying floral tributes to the portrait of Gandhi.
Tuki said the day provides an opportunity to recall her outstanding services towards the nation.
“Gandhi undertook a number of historic measures, such as nationalization of banks, abolition of privy purses, extension of modern technology to agriculture sector to bring green revolution and remove poverty,” the former chief minister said.
Tuki said Gandhi always worked for the national integrity and communal harmony and made supreme sacrifice in the larger interest of the nation.
Former minister James L Wanglat also spoke and remembered the contribution of Gandhi in national building.
