EE denies group’s allegation

ZIRO, Nov 21: Reacting to the allegation levelled by Team Environment Protection Committee (Team EPC), Apatani, that the PHE&WS division here in Lower Subansiri district failed to provide potable and adequate water in the district, the department’s executive engineer on Thursday clarified that “the department cleans all the water reservoirs in the district at regular intervals.”
Team EPC had recently written to the chief secretary, seeking “vigilance” on the department, alleging that the department was not carrying out its job of providing potable and adequate drinking water as per specifications, and that its work was “below standard.”
“The department exercises utmost care to provide wholesome potable water to the consumers,” the EE stated.
Denying the allegation that the department’s work was below standard, the EE said “all water retaining structures are constructed by following laid down guidelines and as per specifications.”
The officer meanwhile questioned “the veracity of the said union (Team EPC) to question the department on its functioning.” He advised the group to “refrain from posting false, derogatory and unfounded allegation about the PHE&WS department, Ziro, on social media platforms,” and warned it against “trespassing into the water treatment plant without obtaining permission from the authority concerned.”
The EE also advised individuals or groups to place their grievances and complaints, if any, “to the designated enquiry office/subdivision/division office.” (DIPRO)
