Awareness workshop on BBBP scheme held

JENGGING, Nov 21: Anganwadi workers (AWW) and ASHAs of Jengging block in Upper Siang district participated in an awareness workshop on the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme, organised here by the district administration and the women & child development department on 20 November.
Addressing the participants, BBBP nodal officer, Pakkar Nomuk, highlighted the importance of the scheme and the activities being carried out under it in the district, while DCPU Probation Officer Akoying Tekseng briefed the AWWs and the ASHAs on the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, and the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006.
He advised the women to approach the ICDS deputy director for any assistance in cases of domestic violence, and to educate the young about the acts that safeguard them.
Jangging CHC MO, Dr Kentaii Pangkam, spoke about antenatal checkup, institutional deliveries, and immunization, and presented a brief on the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act, 1994, besides enumerating the schemes being implemented by the health department, such as the Dulari Kanya scheme and the Janini Suraksha Yojana.
