TORU, Nov 25: “Education lays the cornerstone of our future and helps in expanding our vision and discipline in life,” said Doimukh MLA Tana Hali Tara while attending the valedictory function of the golden jubilee celebration of the government secondary school (GSS) here in Papum Pare district on Saturday.
Congratulating the people of Toru circle and the alumni of the GSS, the MLA urged parents and guardians to “encourage their children to get proper education and give them career guidance.”
Hali presented mementoes to the first batch of students of the school, which included former chief minister and Sagalee MLA Nabam Tuki, besides a host of academicians, medical practitioners, technocrats, public leaders, gaon burahs, and others.
The MLA also released the golden jubilee souvenir, and distributed prizes to the winners of various events.
Tuki in his address advised the GBs, public leaders, government employees and the people of Toru circle to maintain peace and harmony.
Cultural presentations, sports, and literary events marked the celebration.
On the sideline of the event, a free medical camp was organised at the PHC here by the District Health Society, in collaboration with the RK Mission Hospital, Itanagar, besides a career counselling session for students of Toru circle.
The GSS in Toru was established in 1969 as a lower primary school, and started functioning formally in 1970. (DIPRO)
