Homestay mgmt, rural tourism awareness prog held

BASAR, Nov 28: The HRD wing of the tourism department organised a two-day training programme on ‘Homestay management and rural tourism awareness’ here in Leparada district from 26 November, with support from the organisers of BasCon.
SS Kar from the State Food Craft Institute, Itanagar, and Yomgam Tours & Travels MD, Yomjum Yomgam, imparted training to the participants on how to start and manage the operation of homestays.
Forty-five people from the district took part in the programme, which was supervised by DTO TK Kopak.
Kopak urged the trainees to “work together for the development of tourism in the district.” He, however, told the participants that just because they were awarded certificates, “they should not expect any help from the department until and unless they perform well.”
Stating that Basar has the potential to become a good tourist destination, Kar in his address stressed the need for encouraging community-based tourism.
Later, PHE CE Tomo Basar handed over the certificates to the participants.
