Homestay operators taken on tour

ZIRO, Nov 28: Sixteen homestay operators from Changlang, Lohit, Lower Dibang Valley and Lower Subansiri districts took part in a four-day ‘exposure-cum-study tour’, conducted here in Lower Subansiri district by the tourism department from 25 to 28 November.
In the inaugural session of the tour, NgunuZiro chairman Pura Tama advised the homestay operators to maintain the concept of ‘Atithi devo bhava (the guest is equivalent to god)’.
“Homestay is not just to earn money, but it is the place where we share our love and knowledge about our rich heritage and culture with our guests,” Tama said.
During the four-day programme, tour operator and NgunuZiro member Koj Mama explained to the participants the concepts of ecotourism, sustainable development, and homestay, while Dr Tage Kanno spoke about NgunuZiro.
Later, the participants were taken to various homestays here, including the Tam Yamyang homestay in Hong village, the Dogindo homestay, and the NgunuZiro homestays (managed by NgunuZiro).
The valedictory function of the event was attended by District Tourism Officer Dikchu Raji.
