PASIGHAT, Dec 6: The labour & employment department in East Siang district conducted a weeklong ‘sensitization-cum-enrollment programme’ for unorganized workers during the National Pension Week.
Labour Officer (in-charge) Ome Taggu and Labour Board Registering Officer Tongmen Jamoh carried out the enrollment activities under the PM’s Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan Yojana (PMSYMDY) and the National Pension Scheme (NPS) at Pasighat market, the Balaji temple area, and in areas bordering Ruksin.
Our correspondent adds: Meanwhile, people from various walks of life, including traders and village-level entrepreneurs, participated in the weeklong PMSYMDY and NPS event observed by the Upper Subansiri district labour office here. The programme ended on Thursday.
During the event, District Labour Officer Akkom Jumni Ligu enlightened the participants on the importance of the pension scheme, while ADC Marpe Riba spoke about the benefits of the PMSYMDY and the NPS for the economically backward people.
