PASIGHAT, Dec 6: As many as eight teams were awarded walkover wins on day three of the inaugural state-level kho kho championship here in East Siang district, on Friday.
The teams which were given walkovers were Capital Complex (vs Upper Subansiri), Leparada (vs Changlang), Kurung Kumey (vs Kra Daadi), and Tawang (vs Kra Daadi) in the men’s category, and East Kameng (vs Siang), West Siang (vs Siang), Leparada (vs Kra Daadi), and Papum Pare (vs Changlang) in the women’s category.
Reportedly, the teams failed to turn up for the matches as most of the players were fatigued due to the frequencies of the matches.
On the other hand, Longding and Kamle won their matches against Tawang and Tirap, respectively, in the men’s category.
In the women’s category West Siang and Lower Subansiri registered wins against Upper Siang and Leparada, respectively.
Sixteen matches were either played or scheduled for play on Friday in two sessions.
