MALIGAON, Dec 17: All local train services under the NF Railway (NFR), except a few under the Katihar division, will resume from 18 December.
As many as 52 local trains, including the Naharlagun-Tinsukia train, will resume services as the law and order situation in Assam has gradually improved, an NFR release said.
All incoming and outgoing trains moving on the routes of the NE states were suspended for several days after massive protests in Assam over the amended citizenship law.
Meanwhile, the NFR has decided to run some long-distance express trains “to mitigate the problem of the stranded passengers.”
The trains include the Dibrugarh-Howrah Kamrup Express, the Silchar-Trivandrum Express, the Silchar-Sealdah Kanchan Jungha Express, the Silghat Town-Kolkata Kaziranga Express, the Guwahati-Kolkata Garib Rath Express, the Howrah-Dibrugarh Kamrup Express, the Sealdah-Silchar Kanchan Junga Express, the Kolkata-Balurghat Express, and the Howrah-Guwahati Saraighat Express.
