Sensitization prog on NAFCC project held

LANGDUNG, Dec 21: The environment & forest department’s climate change cell on Saturday organized a sensitization programme on the project, ‘Addressing climate change vulnerabilities & rejuvenation of Papum-Poma rivers and its springs’, which has been taken up under the National Adaption Fund for Climate Change (NAFCC), at Langdung village in Papum Pare district.
The NAFCC is a central sector scheme, and its overall aim is to support concrete adaptation activities which mitigate the adverse effects of climate change. The activities under this scheme are implemented in a project mode.
Doimukh MLA Tana Hali Tara requested the public to cooperate with the department and the project implementing agencies to ensure smooth implementation of the project “as this has a long-term vision for conservation and sustenance for livelihood dependent on water.”
Environment & Forest Deputy Director D Dohu Robin made a PowerPoint presentation, highlighting the project’s goals, its objectives, activities and outcomes, and sought cooperation from the public in making the first project under the NAFCC in Arunachal a success.
He also cleared doubts and apprehensions raised by the villagers about the project activities.
Representative from the soil & water conservation department, Nabam Chuma, also spoke.
Soil & Water Conservation Director Joram Puppa, Deputy Mission Director (Sub-Mission Agro-forestry & Bamboo Mission) Dr G Murtem, and villagers from Langdung, Byate, Bam, Inderjulli, Rupung, Yasumso and Kanebung attended the programme.
