State-level essay competition conducted

NAHARLAGUN, Dec 21: A state-level essay writing competition among students was conducted as part of the Si Donyi celebration at the festival ground here on Saturday.
The competition was conducted in three categories – for students upto middle school level (Category 1); for students upto higher secondary level (Category 2); and students of colleges and universities (Category 3).
The topic for Category 1 was ‘My festival Si Donyi’, while ‘Si Donyi is festival of universal and mankind’ was the topic for Category 2. The students under Category 3 were asked to write about ‘Culture and religion and the present challenges of culture’.
The prizes to the winners will be given away on 6 January.
Advocate Puto Bui and Tagin Welfare Society president Tambo Tamin were present on the occasion to encourage the participants.
Bui spoke on the role of the students in preserving and promoting the cultures and traditions of the indigenous tribes of the state. He also highlighted the various challenges being faced by the indigenous cultures.
The competition was organized by the IPR and literary sub-committee of the Capital Complex Si Donyi Festival Celebration Committee.
