ITANAGAR, Feb 15: Home Minister Bamang Felix on Saturday urged the people of the capital complex to “develop a sense of ownership towards their society and contribute their share in creating a safe, secure and serene Itanagar.”
Felix was addressing heads of departments and members of sector committees during a review meeting under the Itanagar chapter of the Hamara Arunachal Abhiyan (HAA) at the DK convention centre here.
Stating that the HAA is a step by the government to empower the people to aid in governance, he expressed hope that the sector committees would help maintain law and order in their respective sectors.
“Such efforts will also help motivate residents to come forward and contribute their share towards this noble initiative,” he said.
The home minister urged the citizens also to take the responsibility of ensuring safety and security in their sectors, and said “the rule of law will definitely prevail.”
Felix, who has himself planted 26,000 trees till date, said his dream is to “plant one lakh trees” in his lifetime, and urged the sector committees to identify locations in the colonies for tree plantation, saying saplings will be provided by the forest department.
Local MLA Techi Kaso in his address stressed the need to “change the mindset of people and create a sense of belongingness towards their society,” adding that “a collaborative effort is required from every individual to achieve the goal.”
Capital Complex DC Komkar Dulom stressed on the need for sector committees and the residents to make joint efforts, while Capital SP Tumme Amo highlighted the initiatives of the capital police in containing law and order issues.
The representatives of the sector committees presented detailed reports, views and ideas vis-à-vis their respective sectors.
Felix urged the committees’ members to continue with the same zeal and motivation. He expressed hope that “with a collaborative effort a safe, secure, serene, clean and green capital will definitely be achieved.” (DIPRO)
