DA summons telecom authorities

YINGKIONG, Feb 19: The Upper Siang district administration, headed by Circle Officer Philip Jerang on Wednesday summoned authorities of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Airtel for delay in construction of their towers.
This was necessitated following a complaint submitted by the people of Gobuk village in Upper Siang district, wherein they had informed of the BSNL’s delay in construction of a heavy weight microwave tower at Retok area of Gobuk village, which had reportedly began in 2011, and the delay in construction of an Airtel tower in the area which began in the year 2018.
While there were no representatives from the Airtel, during the inquiry, the SDO (T) of BSNL informed that
the said heavy weight micro wave tower is “not for providing mobile network services to the village,” and at the same time, informed that another BSNL mobile network tower can be installed in the village to provide mobile network services to the area, and would require further approval from higher authorities.
The CO requested the villagers to cooperate with the administration and assured them that he would summon representatives of Airtel for inquiry on a later date.
Gobuk village is one of the closest villages from the district headquarter Yingkiong, but the villagers have no access to mobile network facilities from any of the telecommunication companies in the area. (DIPRO)
